Before discussing the Types of Motorcycle; The Motorcycle is a vehicle machine inline with two wheels, and powered by motor engines. In Motorcycle: the term Motor and Cycle, these two words defines a cycle driven by motor. Motorcycles are even heavier, bigger and much faster than cycles. Motorcycles are similar to a cycle as they have two inline wheels, Saddle style seat and steered by handlebars.

It reduces the stress and enhance focus. The motorcycles are much sensitive than cycles. The costing prices are higher, it need to be maintained time to time, it needs a gasoline. Riding a motorcycles have higher chance of injuries in an accident than a bicycle. The motorcycles need to comply with all the legal documents like; License, Registrations, Insurance and Many More.
There is no universal law that classifies the Kinds or Types of Motorcycles. The each type holds an unique place in motorcycle world. Here, we will discuss the 12 types of Motorcycles that are recognised as per there body type and uses.
1. Standard
The Standard motorcycles sometimes are referred as a Naked or Roadster Motorcycles. Standard motorcycles are originated in the Europe in 20th Century and are characterized by their up-right riding position. Due to their flexibility, lower costs, moderate engine output, and up-right seating position, standards are particularly suited for beginner motorcyclists. The Standard Motorcycles are Fuel Efficiency and found all over the world because of the motorcycle culture and affordability, modern aesthetic and versatile functions.
2. Off Road
The Off Road Motorcycles resembles the Motocross, Enduro and Trail Motorcycles especially designed to handle better Off Roads and Off-Roading Events. These bikes have the characteristics and capable to make them suitable for unpaved roads, gravelled, muddy and sandy roads and even in river and snow. These motorcycles are lighter, more flexibility, have long suspensions, high ground clearance and are geared higher to create more torque in off-roading situations. These bikes can handle variety of obstacles and has small fuel tank.

3. Choppers
The Chopper Motorcycles were evolved from Bobber and its a kind of customised motorcycles emerged in United States in early 1960s. The choppers motorbikes has modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. The choppers has a long or a very short handle bars, stretched frames, larger suspensions in front extended to the several feet high and has a signature features in most of the choppers. The Harley Davidson and the popular British brand Triumph are the famous manufacturers of Choppers Motorcycle.
4. Touring
Touring Motorcycles are specifically designed for long distance travel that provides a comfort ride. These machines are equipped with large Engine, Displacement, Fairings and Wind Screens that offer good weather and wind protection. It has a large-capacity fuel tanks and a relaxed up-right seating positions. The rider has a excellent seating and luggage space. These Touring motorcycles are described as the Bagger, Full Dresser, Full Dress Tourer or Dresser and Etc.
5. Scrambler
Scrambler Motorcycles are a lightweight motorcycles built for off-road and street uses design with rugged tyres and suspensions. The Scrambler Motorcycles are a vintage style of motorcycle that are characterised by higher speed, taller suspensions, fitted with spoked wheels and knobby tires and high exhaust pipes for ground clearance. These motorcycles are modified from Standard motorcycles by removing unnecessary parts, providing high ground clearance, higher handlings and speed.

6. Motor Trike
Motor Trike simply refers a Three-wheeler bikes, scooters or a car. Motor Trikes has one wheel in front and two in back, and the reverse or tadpole trike has two wheels in front and one in back. The stability of these motorbikes are self maintained because of the three wheels. The Motor Trike resembles a Three wheeler Car, Auto Rickshaw or Freight Loading Rickshaw or even a Three wheeler Motorcycles. These machines has enough luggage space, double seats and many compartments.
7. Cruiser
Cruiser Motorcycles are slightly like choppers and are also called chopped because of the cut-down version of choppers and are characterised by low seat heights, a-bit of high handle bars and forward-mounted foot rest. These motorcycle engines are tuned for low-end torque, making them easy ride ability and shifting of gears. It is not necessary to shift as frequently to accelerate or to maintain a control.
8. Cafe Racer
Cafe Racer Motorcycles are genre of Sports Motorcycles recognised for their striped down-look and speed. These bikes are noted for its visual minimalism with low-mounted handle bars and rear-set foot rest that reduces the wind resistance and improvised the control. The Cafe Racer bikes are often custom-made and has a capacity of single seating.

9. Sport Bike
The Sport Bikes are designed to obtain high speed, acceleration, braking and afford the concrete tracks and roads. The small wind screens are used to deflect winds from the rider to improve aerodynamic low and high turns. The Sport Bikes has the higher foot pegs that move the legs closer to the body and more of a reach to a lower set of hand controls, such as clip on handlebars, which positions the body and weight forward and over the tank. Sport bikes have comparatively high-performance engines resting inside a lightweight frames. The High tech and expensive materials are often used on sport bikes to reduce weight.
10. Scooter
Scooters are a small vehicle design to city and urban travel. The size of the engine are smaller than motorcycles. The frame or body of sooters are enclosed that keep them lighter, quieter and cleaner than motorcycles. Scooters has small two wheels, Auto transmission clutch, swing arm handle bars, quite enough storage space and small suspensions makes them user friendly and easy to learn rides. Some scooters are also called Underbones scooters because of similar to motorcycles small-displacement with a step-through frame. They are differentiated from scooters by their larger wheels and their use of foot pegs instead of a floorboard. They often have a gear shifter with an automatic clutch.
11. Moped
Mopeds are a light weight motor powered cycle type vehicles characterised by small motors under 50 cc and has pedals. Mopeds are designed for short and small distance travels in city or urban areas. Mopeds slightly travel a bit faster than cycles. These machines have slightly raised backbone for fuel tanks but can be run with motor power or pedal instead.
12. Electric
Electric Motorcycles are propelled by electric motor rather than a gasoline engines and powered by rechargeable batteries. Electric powered motorcycles and scooters are faster and better in handling, Mileage and transmission but has a disadvantage of range. A fully charges Electric motorcycles can give an approx of 200 km of range and these machines are excel for city dwellers traveling relatively short distances, on the open road. The electric motorcycles riders might have the range anxiety while travelling a long distance but these machines have exciting features of silent operation, instant torque delivery, zero emission, and environmental friendly. The manufacturing of Electric Motorcycle and Scooters are quite increasing in this 21st Century.
